More than I can Imagine

This scripture was in one of my devotions this morning:  Ephesians 3: 20 “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine”

How big do you imagine God to be?  What do you imagine He can do?

Think about the situations in your life that are weighing in on you.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…

Lay your life, your situations, your concerns at His feet.  He is more than able.  He has a perspective that is different than ours.  He will make a beautiful bouquet out of thorny bushes and manure.  He will make a tapestry out of a bunch of knots.

I think we have to release it all to Him first, and give Him permission to do the work.  You know when a child has a treasured blankey or stuffed toy, and they won’t let it go?  It gets to being ugly, tattered and smelly.  Yet they hold on to it for security because it is familiar.  Sometimes their parent will sneak it away at night to mend it and wash it so it doesn’t offend the rest of the family.  What do we hold onto with equal tenacity that God would love to replace with something new?  Maybe it’s an attitude or opinion, maybe it’s a literal cozy.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…

    Thank-you for the reminder!

Yes it may be a reminder, the scriptures we have heard over and over, but to me it is more than that. When circumstances come up and we read a familiar passage it is like we never have read it before. God tailor makes His word new to fit where we are at so the word is fresh and like nothing we have ever heard before. The end of Ephesians has meant so many different things to me at different times, it is so deep and immeasurable.
